N-butanol

It has an odor similar to fusel oil and its vapors are irritating and can cause coughing. Boiling point 117-118℃, relative density 0.810. 63% n - butanol and 37% water form azeotrope. It is miscible with ethanol, ether and many other organic solvents. It is obtained by fermentation of sugars, or by catalytic hydrogenation of n-butanal or butenal. Used as a solvent for fats, waxes, resins, shellac, varnishes, etc., or in the manufacture of paints, artificial fibers, detergents, etc.

3. Product features and uses

 

1. Mainly used for the manufacture of phthalic acid, aliphatic diacid and phosphoric acid of n-butyl ester plasticizer, they are widely used in a variety of plastic and rubber products. It is also the raw material for organic synthesis of butyral, butyric acid, butylamine and butyl lactate. Dehydrating agent, anti-emulsifier and oil, drugs (such as antibiotics, hormones and vitamins) and spices extraction agent, alkyd resin coating additives, etc. Also can be used as organic dyes and printing ink solvent, dewaxing agent. As a solvent for the separation of potassium perchlorate and sodium perchlorate, sodium chloride and lithium chloride. For washing uranyl zinc sodium acetate precipitation. Colorimetric determination of arsenic acid by molybdate method. Determination of fat in milk. Saponified ester medium. Paraffin embedded material was prepared during microanalysis. Used as a solvent for fat, wax, resin, shellac, gum, etc. Nitro spray paint solvent, etc. [2]

2. Standard substance for chromatographic analysis. Used for colorimetric determination of arsenic acid, separation of potassium, sodium, lithium, chlorate solvent. 

3. As an important solvent, it is widely used in the production of urea-formaldehyde resin, cellulose resin, alkyd resin and coatings, and can also be used as a non-active diluent in adhesives. It is also an important chemical raw material for the production of plasticizer dibutyl phthalate, aliphatic diacid ester, phosphate ester. Also used as dehydrating agent, anti-emulsifier and oil, spices, antibiotics, hormones, vitamins and other extraction agent, alkyd resin coating additives, nitro spray solvent, etc.

4. Cosmetic solvents. Mainly in nail polish and other cosmetics as a co-solvent, with ethyl acetate and other main solvent, help to dissolve the color and adjust the solvent volatilization speed and viscosity. The dosage is generally about 10%.
