Dichloromethane has the advantages of strong solubility and low toxicity. It is widely used in the manufacture of safe film and polycarbonate, and the rest is used as coating solvent, metal degreaser, gas smoke spray agent, polyurethane foaming agent, release agent and paint remover.

Dichloromethane is a colorless liquid, used as a reaction medium in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of ampicillin, hydroxypicillin and pioneer amycin, etc. It is also used as solvent in film production, petroleum dewaxing solvent, aerosol propellant, organic synthesis extraction agent, polyurethane and other foam production foaming agent and metal cleaning agent.

Dichloromethane is mainly used in film production and medicine in China. The consumption of film production accounts for 50% of the total consumption, medicine 20%, cleaning agent and chemical industry 20% of the total consumption, and other aspects 10%. Dichloromethane is also used as a secondary refrigerant in industrial refrigeration systems, but can be hazardous, producing highly toxic phosgene gas when in contact with open fires or hot objects. In humid air, hydrogen chloride can be hydrolyzed to produce trace amount, and light can also promote hydrolysis and enhance the corrosion of metal.
